Tree Removal Preston Safe, Tidy & Insured
Taking down a tree in a garden is skilled work. Houses, fences, greenhouses, cables and neighbours' property are rarely far away, so most trees we remove in Preston come down in sections rather than in one go.
Our qualified arborists plan each removal before we start, use ropes and rigging to lower heavy timber under control, and clear every branch and log away at the end. You get a safe job, a clean garden and no surprises on the bill.
Tree Removal Services We Offer
No two removals are the same. A small ornamental tree in an open garden might be felled in minutes, while a tall conifer between two houses can take a full day of climbing and rigging. These are the services we offer, and we'll recommend the right one when we visit.
Sectional Dismantling
Where there is no room to fell a tree, a climber takes it apart from the top down, cutting branches and sections of trunk and lowering them on ropes.
Nothing drops onto roofs, fences or plants below, which makes it the safest way to remove a large tree in a tight garden.
Tree Felling
Where there is enough clear space, a tree can be felled in one piece. A precise notch and back cut control exactly where it lands.
The trunk and crown are then cut into manageable pieces. It is quicker, and often cheaper, than dismantling.
Stump Grinding
A stump grinder cuts the stump and main roots out below ground level, leaving chippings and soil you can level and re-turf or plant over.
Where a grinder can't be used, we can offer alternatives such as eco plugging, which kills the stump where it stands.
Dead and Diseased Trees
Dead, dying and diseased trees become brittle and can drop limbs without warning. We look at the tree, take it down safely and remove the wood.
The risk to people and property goes with it, and we'll tell you honestly if a tree could be saved instead.
Emergency Tree Work
High winds can uproot a tree, snap out a limb or leave a damaged tree leaning on a fence or roof. We have experience making these trees safe.
Call us as soon as it happens and we'll get to you as quickly as we can, then clear the tree away.
Clear-Up and Tidy
Every removal ends with a full clear-up. We take the brash and timber away, or leave logs stacked if you would like to keep them.
Then we rake and blow the area, so the only sign we were there is the extra light in your garden.

Tree Removal in Practice
On tight sites a crane can lift sections of a tree up and over the house while our climber makes the cuts, as on the job in this photo. It means less time on site and much less risk to the property and the garden.
For most gardens, ropes and rigging do the job: the climber cuts, and the ground crew lowers each piece on a rope and cuts it up as it lands. Either way, the work is planned before the first cut is made.
Do You Need Permission to Remove a Tree?
Most garden trees can be removed without permission, but some cannot. A tree covered by a Tree Preservation Order needs the council's consent before work goes ahead, and in a conservation area you must give the council six weeks' notice. Work carried out without them can lead to a fine. We can check this for you and, where an application is needed, help you prepare it.
After removal, think about what comes next. Grinding the stump out lets you re-turf or replant the spot straight away, while a low stump left in place costs less if you plan to cover it. We'll talk you through the options when we quote.

Tree Pruning
Crown reductions, crown lifts, thinning and reshaping that bring an overgrown tree back under control while keeping it healthy and natural-looking.

Garden Maintenance
Grass cutting, hedge cutting, weeding and general garden upkeep, as a one-off tidy-up or regular visits through the growing season.
